ESSE signifies "essence." Indeed, this casual minivehicle embodies the "Ecological, Simple, Smart and Easy," essence of the minivehicle's greatest assets in one beautiful small package that adds to the pleasure of daily life.

A simple, timeless design based on a trapezoidal shape. Aiming for a vehicle that is inviting and easy to drive, the casual, functional styling minimizes blind spots in front, with a clear rear view and high bonnet that is shaped for confidence when maneuvering the vehicle.

To create a convenient and stress-free interior, frequently used instrumentation and audio functions are centrally arranged for easy access and visibility, complemented by large switches and lettering. Interior colors are coordinated with body colors to create a fresh and fashionable effect that adds to the everyday enjoyment of using the vehicle.

For the body colors, Daihatsu chose shades representing essential tones of nature. The cabin is designed to create a harmony between body and interior colors.

Equipped with the newly developed TOPAZ KF 660cc in-line 3-cylinder gasoline engine, ESSE delivers outstanding driving performance together with excellent fuel economy and emissions reduction equivalent to 75% below Japan's 2005 regulations.
