The S2000 is the only front enginged 2 seater convertible Honda has produced for over 30 years. It was conceived as Honda's 50th birthday present to itself, a spiritual successor to the S800.
From only 1997cc the Honda S2000 manages to produce a staggering 237bhp, a record breaking specific output. The VTEC engine is just as happy at low revs as it is screaming at 9000rpm, accompanied by a noise more similar to F1 than anything else. An extraordinary engine deserves something a bit special to start it, and a bright red starter button does the job.
This power passes through slick 6 speed gearbox to the rear wheels, allowing the S2000 a 0-60 time of 5.5seconds. The gearbox on the Honda S2000 is nothing short of outstanding, each shift is tight, mechanical and very, very fast. Accelerating and decelerating through the gears is pleasure to behold.
With perfect 50:50 weight distribution and ultra grippy rear drive chasis make the Honda a joy to drive. The S2000 remains taught at all times and the powerful brakes help haul it down from high speeds.
Its not just the S2000 itself that is fast, the electric hood can be lowered in under 9 seconds. With the roof down the body remains rattle free, devoid of any scuttle shake. The cabin remains pretty much bluster free and you can easily hold a conversation with the roof down at motorway speeds.
