The high performance Lexus GS 450h luxury sports sedan, which goes on sale in 2006, is the second production vehicle to showcase Lexus hybrid drive technology, and the first full hybrid vehicle to feature front engined rear wheel drive.
The new drive-train combines a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine with a highoutput, permanent magnet electric motor, producing a total power output in excess of 340 DIN hp. The GS 450h will accelerate from 0-100 kph in less than 6.0 seconds, whilst returning the fuel economy figures of a 4-cylinder, 2.0 litre sedan and producing substantially reduced CO2 emissions than similarly powered vehicles.
