Toyota Prius

The new Prius represents a vast evolutionary step from the original Prius that was launched in 1997 as the world's first mass-produced hybrid passenger car. It features a new high-efficiency hybrid system that aims to set new global benchmarks in environmental performance and that heightens the "fun to drive" quotient. Its emphasis on universal design is reflected in operational controls that feature the latest in electronic-control technology and in styling and packaging that redefine the passenger vehicle category.

Innovative environmental and driving performance
n Control-system advances, such as the adoption of a high-voltage electrical system for the motor and generator, and other improvements produce a motor output 1.5 times greater than that in the previous system, meaning a smoother and more-responsive hybrid experience.
n Efforts to achieve world-leading levels of environmental performance have led to extremely high fuel efficiency and ultra-low emissions.
n A new movement control system-based on Toyota's cutting-edge hybrid control technology-seamlessly integrates EPS, VSC, ABS, ECB and TRC*2 for improved driving stability.

State-of-the-art styling and technology
n An advanced aerodynamic exterior envelops a spacious, comfortable cabin and a high-utility cargo space.
n Innovative electronic controls that change the way drivers operate a vehicle include an electronically controlled gearshift and a push-type ignition switch.
n Use of aluminum in the hood, rear door and suspension components, a more-compact hybrid system and other features allow for great achievements in weight reduction.
