The new Prius represents a vast evolutionary step from the original Prius that was launched in 1997 as the world's first mass-produced hybrid passenger car. Innovative environmental and driving performance
n Control-system advances, such as the adoption of a high-voltage electrical system for the motor and generator, and other improvements produce a motor output 1.5 times greater than that in the previous system, meaning a smoother and more-responsive hybrid experience.
